Do you have a studio?

  • No, I do not. I am a location photographer. That means I come to you. I'm not a big fan of studio's. Not having a physical studio also means my costs are kept lower, great news for you! However, I do have a portable studio that I can bring to YOU, but I prefer to only use that for newborns. My heart belongs to lifestyle photography, but if you have a newborn and you want studio style photos, then I make an exception.

Where do sessions take place?

  • Sessions take place on location. During our consultation we'll discuss style and ideas and that's when we'll decide what location is best. It can be your home, (lifestyle), a favorite fishing spot, a romantic vista on the Rim, etc. We can even pick more than one location to add some spice to your session!

Do I have to fill out any papers or sign a contract?

  • Yes. I run a fully legal company. That means I have contracts that each of my clients must fill out and sign. I file and pay taxes for this business, and that means I must keep detailed accurate records. I also require my clients to sign a model release form.

What is a model release form?

  • It is another way to protect my clients and myself. Simply put, I need my clients permission to post pictures of them on my website, to print them and show them in my portfolio or to post a preview of their gallery. It also protects me. I have proof that I am the photographer that you hired and I am the one who has your permission to use the photos of you and your family. Sadly, there are ones out there that steal work like mine, and this is one important step to help me keep my work safe.

How long does a session take?

  • That can vary. I don't like to rush, especially with kids. I move at baby pace when working with newborns. I am not the kind of photographer that forces shots just to keep to a time line. I want you to have fun and create fond memories of your time with me. Usually, you can expect to be with me anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours. Occasionally I will offer "MINI-Shoots", those last no longer than 45 minutes, are on one location only and have limited photos taken.

I'm expecting a baby, when should I book my newborn session?

  • As soon as you find out your due date! The optimal time for a newborn session is between 1-10 days old. The earlier you book the better! Sessions fill up fast and I hate to turn anyone away because of not having any openings. Now, being a mom of a preemie, I realize that due dates don't always work out! So, when you book with me, we work with a time-frame and specific dates. Once you book with me, you'll be guaranteed a spot! So book early!

Do you use props?

  • Sometimes. With little ones and newborns mostly. I have props, blankies, hats, headbands, baskets, chairs, etc. I do have themed sessions that are fully propped. It depends on what you want.

What do I wear to my Photo Shoot?

  • During most sessions we will be outdoors, so please be sure to wear, or at least, bring appropriate shoes for outdoors. If you want to wear high heels in the photos, bring easy slip on tennis shoes if we will be by the river, walking in rough terrain or in the forest so as to safely walk from spot to spot and then you can slip them off and wear the heels only when I’m ready to shoot a photo.

  • Most sessions will have enough time to allow for an outfit change or two. I encourage bringing at least one extra outfit/top to mix things up a bit.

What can I expect with my online gallery?

  • You will receive high resolution, edited images from your session.

  • Proofs can be viewed in a private, online gallery (login details will be provided after our session) with full ordering capability.

  • I offer package pricing that rewards larger orders. I am set up with a professional photo lab that my monitor is calibrated to so as to ensure high quality prints. I do not print at local discount labs!

  • My print quality is of the highest standard - your images should last over 100 years in a typical home display and over 200 years in dark storage.

  •  I am also more than happy and prefer to have an in-person consultation and proofing. Let me help you decide what to do with all of your lovely images! Would you like a wall arrangement? I have a wide range of options. I don’t want you to be limited by just prints. Let’s talk.

  • Payments - I accept credit cards, personal checks or cash. All session fees are due on or before the date of the session. I do require a deposit on all event sessions. Note your contract for deposit details.

Extra Tips for your Photo Shoot:

  • If you will be bringing children along, please remember to pack a snack/drinks just in case they need to take a 5 minute break in between set-ups.

  • Bring along a hair brush, hand mirror and some hair spray, mishaps have happened and we don’t want to be caught off guard with messy hair.

  • For newborns and babies, we go at baby pace. I don't force shots just to stick to a time table. We make time for feedings, changing and cuddling.
